Relentless

Last weekend I attended an Easter drama and to say it moved me is an understatement. I believe that since we weren't actually at Calvary on the day that Jesus was crucified, it's easy for us to lose sight of what he did, just for us. We didn't actually experience it first hand, so we don't necessarily realize and feel the depth of it all. Even though there are many who depict what happened, nothing can or ever will come close.

The most beautiful thing that I've realized about that day is that Jesus, knew all too well that the very same people who he gave his life for, were the same ones who nailed him to the tree and yet, He. Did. It. Anyway. Without expectation, without condition. Pure love in its highest form.

His love for us is so far beyond our limited comprehension. He saw the cross, he carried it, he endured it, he was nailed to it and gave his life on it, knowing we would never be able to repay him. As he was hanging on the cross, I can imagine he looked ahead in time and saw each one of us that needed a savior. We needed the sacrifice he made for us. We needed his absolutely unconditional love.

He saw our faults, our shortcomings, our mistakes, our failures, he saw everything about us that is anything BUT Christ-like, yet he gave his ALL, to save us. Unworthy as we are, he poured out his love. Every drop of his blood, shed JUST for us.

So today, if you're living your life in an effort to "measure up", we never will. Of course, we should strive to be the VERY best version of ourselves in our walk with God. However, that doesn't mean that we are perfect or ever will be. There was only one who was perfect, and the world rejected, despised, persecuted and crucified him.

Our efforts should be to live FOR HIM. To be pleasing TO HIM. To show our love FOR HIM. To praise and glorify HIM. To shine our light, given to us BY HIM. It's not about us, but it is ALL. ABOUT. HIM.

He gave us his life, what will we give him in return? I pray that we all have strength to live our lives as a living sacrifice. Serving him and bringing him ALL the glory he SO deserves.

He may have been crucified, but we all know what happened on that third day! I hope you have an abundantly blessed Easter. He is RISEN, He is ALIVE. He has won for us EVERY victory!
