Put Your Mind in Park

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Philippians 4:8‭-‬9 KJV

This scripture came to mind today as I was thinking about some things that have been trying to distract me lately. Key word: trying. Our minds are quite literally a battle field. In our walk with God and in our every day lives, we have things that grab and fight for our attention.

It's so easy to allow our flesh to take over and give in to the negative path that our enemy wants us to walk every day. He wants us to sit and ponder on the things he's attacking our minds with. He wants ALL of our focus to be on those things that contribute NO good thing to our walk with God.

Pump the brakes. Put your mind in PARK on the GOODNESS of God. Our minds can easily speed off and get out of control if WE don't take our thoughts into captivity. We can either choose to think on good things or we can think on the bad.

When those thoughts come to you, or when you feel like you're in a fight for your peace, put it in park. Think on God. Think on his promises. Think on his word. Think on his many blessings in your life. Think on the times he's been faithful to you.

Sometimes we just have to take a step back and realize that it is indeed a battle and that WE have to gird up our minds with the truth of who God is.

Keep your mind and your eyes fixed on Jesus. In him are ALL good things. He is perfection, he is pure and he is holy. Think on him. He will keep you in PERFECT peace when your mind is STAYED on him.
