In the Journey

It's in the journey that you find your strength. In every broken road, every failure, every setback, every heartbreak, every mistake. It's in every one.

If we never faced things that challenge us, we would never grow. If we never walked some hard roads, we would never find our true direction. If we never knew hurt, we would never know healing.

There is something so beautiful and rare in brokenness. When we're broken, we feel so exposed. We feel as though our hearts have been placed on display for the world to see. If you're like me, your heart has been through a few things, who would want to see that? Who would want it? God does.

See, in God's way, in God's time, he takes ALL things and makes them beautiful again. No matter how we try to hide our hurts, our pain and our struggles, he sees them all. The thing is, if we guard our hearts from the possible "bad", we're also guarding our hearts from the good AND from his healing.

How can we fully accept GOD'S love into our hearts to heal them, if we've closed the door? If we close the door of our hearts to keep hurt OUT, then we're also keeping LOVE from getting IN. HIS love.

Our past hurts don't change the fact that love is worth fighting for in every way. Especially God's love because there is NONE greater. If we won't accept his love then we're not accepting HIM because GOD IS LOVE!

Some of us have been through situations or relationships that simply LOOKED or FELT like love. Or maybe we wanted to BE loved or FEEL loved, so we accepted a "love" that was nothing but a counterfeit. I say we because I've been there. I've accepted "love" in lesser forms, that, at the time, actually felt like it.

Now, years later and through God's healing process, I can finally see that the love that I was searching for all along was HIS love. His love brings you worth. It brings value. It brings contentment, joy, peace, hope and a LASTING rest.

It's taken me such a long time to get this understanding. Maybe that's how God planned it. I don't know his ways but I do know that where there is love, there is life and a life without HIS love is no life at all.

Allow yourself to love. Despite it all, LOVE is worth it. HIS love is true, it's loyal and it's everlasting. Take the journey. Open your heart to receive it all. The good, the bad and everything in between because trust me, God has a plan for it all.
