Collecting Dust

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:19‭-‬21 KJV

What's collecting dust in your life?

The things of this world can easily pull for our attention while the work God has called us to do sits and collects dust. I had a dream last night about this beautiful home. Inside were pieces of beautiful antique furniture, like I've never seen before. It looked like a home made for royalty. The only thing was, it was gloomy, and dust covered everything. What once was beautiful and full of life had become old, lifeless and forgotten.

To me, it symbolized worldly possessions and how VERY temporary they are. Even if we gained all the "finer" things in life, they are still temporary. We still have an eternity to gain once we leave it all behind.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark 8:35‭-‬37 KJV

Are we placing stock in the things of this world? Or are we walking with God, letting him lead us, letting him provide what HE wants for our lives and allowing him to work? Each and every person has a purpose on this earth and if God has EVER done ANYTHING for you, you have a testimony. You have a witness. Tell someone about how God has helped you, how he's saved you and how he's set you free.

If we sit on our testimony and never share it, our testimony is collecting dust.
If we never share the gospel with those God places in our path, our ministry is collecting dust.
If we aren't reaching into this lost and dying world and giving people hope, our outreach is collecting dust.

Whatever God has given you to do, regardless of how "small" you think it may be, I guarantee you are touching more lives than you realize. Don't let the work God has for you collect dust and never be put to use. Pick it up, dust it off and go to work! It's never too late to be a witness. It's never too late to share what God has done for you. Be a light, be a witness, be an example and show others the love of God.

Don't let your God-given gifts fall by the way side. Use them to God's glory. Those are the things that are eternal. Those are the things that will be steadfast and unmoveable. Those are the things that need to burn like a flame inside of us. Pick them up and use them. Put action with your faith and watch God work!

Dust yourself off! Now is the time!
