The Light to Our Path
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV
I read a story this morning about three princes who were trying their best to make it to a castle, specifically walking in a straight line without wavering. The first walked while looking to his left and right, trying to stay on his straight path. Little did he know, he had veered off to the right and missed his target. The second prince focused on his feet. Making sure that each step was ordered one in front of the other. By the time he made it to the castle, once again, he had strayed off his course. Now the third prince, he made it to the castle, with no problem, walking straight the whole journey to the castle. What did he do different than the other two?
He focused on the light at the top of the castle's tower. He didn't focus on all that was around him or even his own ability to stay on the straight path. He kept his focus on THE LIGHT.
This is just like our walk with Jesus. We're going to have things that come in our paths that can cause us to sway off course IF we put our focus in the wrong direction.
We've got to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. In every circumstance, at ALL times. So many things fight for our attention each and every day. Things that can become stumbling blocks if we allow them to. Today, let's keep our eyes fixed on the Author and Finisher of our faith! Jesus! Our path may never be easy but when we run this race WITH Jesus, he will be our guide that gently leads us home. Don't run against his guidance. Trust in it and trust in him always. He knows the way!!!
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6 KJV
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12 KJV
