After the Storm

We all know how storms can wreck everything in their paths. There are hurricanes, which our nation is dealing with the aftermath of right this very moment. We have tornados and thunderstorms. All do their own level of damage no doubt, but, in the midst of storms, if you search out the good, you will find it. As our nation has done in spite of the wreckage of Harvey.

This can also apply to our spiritual lives. The most damaging storms seem to come in certain seasons. We have periods in life that we feel like we face trial after trial. We go through each day with a sort of despair because we don't know what "bad" thing is going to happen next. When the storm clouds come, it dims our vision. The clouds can completely block our sight of the Savior.

When we're facing things we don't understand, that thing we're up against can distract us. It can cause our FULL attention to be focused on it. When that happens, we've just been defeated. We will continue to be defeated as long as we allow our storm to create a storm within us. Our enemy will storm our minds with anxiety, doubt, fear and worry. NONE of which are anything we know to be true about our MIGHTY GOD.

Even though there may be clouds, even rain, behind it all is still our AWESOME God who NEVER changes. The circumstances of our lives during and after our storms are no surprise to God. He's not affected by them whatsoever. What does AFFECT him is our FAITH and our BELIEF that even though we may be battling with this storm, that HE is still sovereign. He is still on the throne, He is still in control, He is still GREAT and greatly to be praised. He never leaves us, he never forsakes us, he's right there with us through IT ALL.

It's up to us to shift our focus. It's up to us to keep our spiritual sight fixed on the one who not only calms the raging seas of this life but calms the raging seas within us all. If we could only expand our vision to see beyond all the enemy throws in our path.

Behind those clouds in your life today, there's still a bright, shining sun. There's still the promise of a new day. There's new life that's going to spring up from what those storms killed in your life. See God has a beautiful way of taking ALL things and working them all together for OUR good and HIS glory. The sun will shine again. The clouds will part and you will see his light shining so brightly in your situation. By the light of his love, He will reveal why you went through it all. It will all make perfect sense. In his timing.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. During the storm, we may never understand, but we simply have to trust in the Creator. He'll teach us how to sleep through the storm.
